Portraits and Self-portraits

This week was about portraits with emphasis on self portraits. I have a distinct dislike for the self part. I sort to get bogged down with the literal. I don't like looking in the mirror, who is that staring back at me. Doesn't seem to be me! How do tackle " the me"? Ok, an assignment is an assignment so I gave it try.

See AllLet's start with a little about blogging. I've reached a point where I'm questioning why I blog. It's definitely not for commercial...
I am climbing up the wall! Don't know if posts are being sent out to my subscribers! Posted a new blog post a few days ago!...
These are wonderful, Carol! The first one, to me seems like a mask. It reflects your question perfectly. The two gouache are so eye catching, and the figures have character, feelings I can read from their pose. The last one is so evocative! And so minimal. Wonderful work, Carol!!
I like what you posted. And yes, I really understand not liking SELF portraits… Just relax and look at overall structure. ♥️ Diana 😊
I love your pursuit of self-portraits!!! It is such a great exercise, and one I do every year at least once. Daunting! But important. Your self portraits here are marvelous! “Resting” is my fav!
Carol, brava! Great work getting in there and tackling stuff outside your comfort zone! The combo of charcoal and eraser has a magnetic pull, with an appealing-to-me balance of detail and lack of detail. Ta da!
