My new hydroponic installation. Thanks to my granddaughter Lior and her fiance Koby. A vegetable garden just outside my door. Eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, mangold, basil and celery. Left is about 1 week and R is 4 weeks. Tomatoes have taken over! Can’t wait to harvest, lots of mangold to cut. What to do with them, any suggestions!

I am at the end of another zoom course with Sara Post. This course was devoted to finding abstracts in nature, these were more about patterns in nature.

1. FABULOUS hydroponic installation! Very exciting! Seeing that growth in 4 weeks warms my heart. Let us know what you do with your bumper crop of mangold.
2. I am drawn (pun acknowledged) to the quiet linework/shapefinding in your first painting image above, and to the blue green, shape patterns, and lines in the second image. Hats off to you for taking another Sara Post class. In that class, did you have chances to see the work of others? Was there wild variability?
3. Good thing I check my junk email every day and look to see if anything has landed there mistakenly. If not for that, I would have missed your post : (
I am going to bring the mangold to my daughter this Saturday. See what she suggests. The installation gives me so much pleasure, the sound of the water going through the pipes,and of course the luscious green, while the rest of my garden is almost all dry now. Any vegetables will just be the cherry on cake.
Thanks for finding the patterns especially in the first. Yes, I have become addicted to the classes. They are very small, 12-13 max. She uses a software called Padlet. https://padlet.com/ Each student has her own column where they post the assignments. There are places where you can “like” or make comments. The range of students is wide, some work with fabric and stitching, all various media. She also has a resource page where she posts videos of artist interviews, and various artists that relate to a specific topic. Like when we talked about patterns in nature there were artists like: Ruth Asawa, Matisse (cut outs},Terry Winters, Fiona Rae, Lois Dodd,David Hockney,Philip Taafe, Alexander Calder, Joan Miro, Tom Friedman for our inspiration. Some of these artists I never heard of before. We spend the first part of class discussing the videos and then there is about 10-15 minutes of drawing mostly timed using dry, dry wet( dry that is water soluble] and wet. Since it is zoom we all show our stuff on camera and post on the board, then we go to the board to discuss everyone’s work. 2 hrs of learning!
The only con for me is the time frame. 10AM pacific time is 8:00PM my time, after a full day!

That hydroponic garden is INSANELY GOOD! Wow wow wow! You must be thrilled to see it every day? What a lovely way to garden!
And it is so fantastic to see your new art (both so incredible of course!) and to know you are immersed in courses and paint! Hooray!
