I seem to be addicted to Sara Post‘s drawing Zoom workshops. I love her way of teaching and the community of artists in the group. Some familiar and some new. She always does considerable research and provides interesting videos and examples that I find myself going back to many of her resource pages from previous workshops. In each class she opens with a discussion on the video/videos followed by a drawing exercise, usually fast sketches from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
This 5 minute sketch was my reaction to a poem by Emily Dickinson called I Dwell in Possibilty

Carol, so much in such a deliciously short amount of time: repetition, layering, contrast, sharp dark, wide smoky, hints, geometry, smudges, vertical, horizontal, diagonal, curved. The magic comes from having this hold so much and yet remain simple and uncluttered. I am entranced by its looking both unfinished and whole. Wow!

Thanks Ruth for your constant support!
Thanks for your constant support, it really means so much and is not taken for granted. What I really like about her workshops is that we are not after finished and polished works but in the process. The smudges were made when I wanted to test what would happen adding water. Although the pencil I used is not “water soluble” it did smudge it a bit. You would be surprised how much you can so in 5 minutes!
מעניין ממש הלמידה, התרגיל והשילוב שלכמה תחומים שנותנים השראה
Thank you for your feedback. Sara often uses poetry as a prompt for fast sketches..
Love your sketch!!! Amazing! Also appreciating the comfort of working with an instructor whose methods and prompts and resources you enjoy – fantastic!!
איזה כיף שחזרת לפרסם!
