My art blog… what’s on my easel… daily painting… sketches… digital stuff …photography…challenges…and a bit of poetry

Do This Than That

If you see this in your mail box than Mor successfully integrated my new mailer to IceGram Express.

My body is slowly catching up with my mind which tells me there is a cease fire on the Iran front. No agreements, the opposite, no hostages, just more daily not knowing anything.

My art piece is another of my do this, then that type of  work.

Mixed Media in a small watercolor sketchbook. Funny about these pieces. When I finish I absolutely don’t like them. A week later, well not so bad! May tweak with some fine linework.

  1. Carol! Your post featuring your Do This Then That mixed media piece done in your small watercolor sketchbook arrived in my email inbox successfully! Hooray! On first quick reading I thought you’d written that it was a small watercolor painting, and I thought, “Really? How can that be a watercolor?” before I sorted everything out. This piece pulls me to think about the artist and the steps taken in the creation of the piece—I feel no need to interpret but instead feel curious about and attentive to the various marks and the veiling and the process.

    1. Yes, it’s mainly gouache with oil pastels, graphites and the kitchen sink!
For the main thing now a days is process. Thank you for your feedback and words of support.
I am so glad my new mailer is working. Now to design my notification post. Para para!

    1. Thank you Rutie. Always appreciate your feedback. Thanks for looking and taking the time to comment!

  2. This is wonderful, Carol! First, I’m glad you’re safe!
I love what you’re doing with this then that! Where does that concept come from — are there promps?

    1. Safe, yes but relative. It is just sinking in what we went through. I felt at the time that I was going through the motions. Yes, I work with prompts that I got from from a former artist instructor, Joan Fullerton. Paint yourself free: https://www.joanfullertonworkshops.com/joanfullertononlineclass-419855.html. It was her class that really got me into abstract. She works in acrylics and I want to translate some of them for work with oil & cold wax. As always appreciate your feedback and support.

    1. Kudos for doing the background stuff! Yes, creating, no matter what shows up helps and there is some joy in that.

  3. Carol!!! I love this piece! (And, well, all of your work) 😁. Your determination to keep creating and tackling tech stuff while the unknowing is all around motivates me every day. Thank for showing us the way through!.

    1. So glad the piece speaks to you. Dis-regard the reply above! Got out of focus, happens. Somehow I feel I am not doing much… but each little things grows into a bigger thing. Your feedback and support are what keeps me going.

  4. Love seeing your posts, your work AND hearing what is going on in your mind. I loved “week later, well not so bad!”

  5. Thanks Meredith! Still jump when there is a loud noise, motorcycle, ambulance. Good luck with your new workshop. Just remember what you put in is what you get. Process is most important, if she manages to stimulate to do the work Kudos.

  6. I looked at this for quite a while. I guess that means I like it. Haha.
It is very calming. There is balance, and lots of interest. In the textures and marks.
You made me smile, what you said about not liking them. Oh, how I can relate!
Every artist can. Happy making to you, Carol! Brachot!

    1. Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, our inner critic seems to always pop up. We have to learn to kick her OUT! Brachot
