My art blog… what’s on my easel… daily painting… sketches… digital stuff …photography…challenges…and a bit of poetry

In my workshop with Sara Post we learned about this new drawing project run by Chole Briggs. I was a bit wary because she chooses people that are logged in, and since I have developed a phobia of cameras etc. But I did make the plunge and of course I was asked to pose, which I did. I enjoyed the session very much. Here is the fruit of my effort. These are all between 3-5 minutes, the length of a music track!

At first I really didn’t like the results, was a bit tight, but relooking felt that they weren’t so bad, of course really need practice. For those on the west coast times are either early morning or middle of the night, but for me Paris is just 1 hour behind and I could join both the morning and evening. Join me!

    1. I love these quick sketches, Carol. Your rendering of hands along with faces is amazing. Agree with a previous viewer about line and shadow appearance/disappearance.

      1. Thank you for your feedback. Tomorrow morning I will do another session. They are very quick so there is a sense of stress. Something I have to work on..

  1. Carol, fabulous! I have scrolled through your sketches several time already, pulled in by line, absence of line, use of shading, use of suggestion where no mark at all has been placed. High five to you for diving into these explorations, this practice. You inspire!

  2. Love the sketches! Loose and wonderful! Portraiture is jot for the faint of heart, and I love how badass you are in diving right in! Yes!!!!!
